Auditions- Aberrant Behavior- Saturday June 7th @ Mamma Buzz 4-6M in Oakland arts district

I am having auditions for my new movie "Aberrant Behavior" Saturday June Seventh at Mamma Buzz Cafe in downtown Oaklands Art District 2318 Telegraph Ave from 4-6PM. If your interested in the movie you can e-mail me at: aberrantbehaviormovie@gmail.com. I have already casted some of the roles and have people working on it, I just have not cast all of them yet and of course the female lead.

There will be some paid roles (of course the leads) but this is a low budget (around 25-35,000 or so) affair so it won't be a whole lot. Just to warn you.

Aberrant Behavior, is basically a love story about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. They have a very co-dependent relationship and with there disorders too , they literally destroy each other.

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

THERE WILL BE SOME SEXUALITY AND NUDITY FOR THE TWO LEADS, AS WELL AS MISTY AND FOGGY TO A LESSER DEGREE. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR THOSE ROLES, IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. THANK YOU.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:

LEADS:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin. Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice. He falls in love with Aiko. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUALS SITUATIONS REQUIRED-CAST

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered. She falls in love with Victor. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS REQUIRED.

SUPPORTING LEADS:
Pedida Muertos- (20's -40's)-Mexican- Victor's nearly catatonic - mute drug addict mother, who is usually messing around with strange men, and drugged up. Mostly abuses Victor through neglect. Mostly shown in flashbacks, but one scene in present as well. Young actress aged to look older in present, or vice versa.

Misty & Foggy (20's) two girls that Victor and Chad meet at the bar, who are wasted, and act and look like twins. Very ditzy, drunk, corporate, normal. They take Victor and Chad back to there place. Drunken debauchery ensues.

Spic 'N' Span (20's -40's)- One of the horrible mascots for the advertising firm Victor works for, "Spic n Span's Whiten it up" Cleaning product. They play racist cliched versions of mexican house workers. Think Samo. It's meant to be horrible, and it of course offends Victor.

Aiko's Father-
A militant cold hearted man who sexually abuses aiko. Must be bilingual Japanese & English

Aiko's Mother-
Always screaming at Aikos father. Bi-lingual fluent in German & English

VARIOUS:
Hipster's (18-30) Some with speaking roles. A house party Victor crashes.

Office workers (20's -on) Some with speaking roles.

Various small roles for the horrible commercials and promo's from the firm Victor briefly works for

Other roles as well-Not listed

Aberrant behavior-auditions saturday the 19th 2263 mission (between 18th & 19th) 3:30-6:30

I'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Best place to e-mail:
theperiodmovie@yahoo.com

Keep in mind the budget of this movie will probably stay around 25-35, 000 dollars , so just warning I can pay but not the highest rates

Thanks-
Jason
Here is the original posting:

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie, as well as various other outlets)
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

thanks for reading

I have some good news to share. "The Christmas Card", the Hallmark movie I played the diner waitress 'Molly' in, is now available on DVD through Netflix, Blockbuster, Borders, amazon.com and others. Amazon gave us a 5 star rating and has posted some lovely reviews. Ed Asner was nominated for an Emmy for his outstanding performance in the movie earlier this year. Cast and crew are all thrilled! It's a wonderful holiday gift for the entire family.
;-)
Also, A few weeks ago I did a Slingbox commercial which should air very soon during Monday night football. I play a nervous dental patient in this one. Very funny stuff.

Hey guys, here is my first attempt at a 'special effects" movie. It's a tribute to all of the over-the-top blockbuster movies with crazy effects. I didn't have access to a green screen studio, so I just shot everything in my apartment and had to rotoscope (trace) all the characters frame by frame to get them all in the same shot. Take a look and let me know what you think:

“The Smiling Man” World Premiere and DVD Release Party

Local movie makers Kelp Entertainment are proud to unveil their new detective mystery in a free Noir-themed bash and public screening at 12 Galaxies on the evening of August 7th, 8:00 P.M.

Set in San Francisco, 1948, “The Smiling Man” tells the story of down-on-his-luck private detective Nick Chambers (Chris Hudak) as he tracks down a missing man with only a single lead to work from - a photograph of his grinning quarry. Without even a name to go on, Nick begins a citywide hunt for this mysterious missing person, but finds more questions than answers. Based on the short story written by Keoni Chavez, originally published in the anthology “Fog City Nocturne”, and directed by B.J. West, The Smiling Man pays loving homage to the classic detective films of the forties, while adding a decidedly post-modern slant.

The centerpiece of the evening will be two screenings of “The Smiling Man”, each lasting 37 minutes, once in vintage black and white, and later in color. Many members of the cast and crew will be on hand to share anecdotes and answer questions.

Zelda Gale and the Tuxedo Junkies will keep the joint swinging between screenings, and guests can compete in a “Liar’s Dice” tournament for valuable prizes. Refreshments will be available for purchase at 12 Galaxies’ bar.

1940’s clothing is encouraged, but by no means required.

Hey there, "Movie Makers" members--

This Tribe doesn't have a moderator, but as a matter of policy, Tribe.net likes all groups to have a leader. Can you collectively choose someone to moderate your Tribe?

When you've reached consensus, have the new moderator send a note to help@tribe.net, with the words "Moderator Change –Movie Makers" in the subject header, letting us know that you've selected a new leader. Please be sure to include a link to this discussion thread!

Thanks--

Cognition Factor - a movie about a cyberpunk's search for consciousness

Check the teasers for Cognition Factor, a movie, with Terence Mckenna, Dennis Mckenna, Rupert Sheldrake, Ralph Abraham, John Shirley, and others, about a cyberpunk's search for consciousness. This stuff has never been seen anywhere before. It is not from any archive. It is footage shot by me in real-time.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: 2007 Anti-Corporate Film Festival

The 2007 CounterCorp Anti-Corporate Film Festival is seeking submissions for this year's festival, which is scheduled to take place from October 19-21 in San Francisco.

The CounterCorp Festival seeks a variety of U.S. and foreign-made movies, feature-length and shorter works, and narrative (fictional) and documentary films (including animation) in both film and digital formats.

The only requirements are that they have some element or theme about how corporations affect our lives, and that non-English films have English subtitles.

To submit a film for consideration, please download and fill out the 2007 submission form (www.countercorp.org/countercorp-festival.htm ) -- and mail it in with your film by this year's deadline: July 2.

CounterCorp also welcomes suggestions for films that we should show at the Festival. Please e-mail suggestions to submissions@countercorp.org (or reply to this posting), and include as much as possible of the following information:
* The name of the film
* Approximate running time
* A brief description
* The director's name
* Year it was released
* Country of origin (and original language)
* Name of production and/or distribution company
* Why you think it fits in the CounterCorp Festival

If we end up screening a film that you suggest, we will give you two free tickets to *any* film at this year's festival. (In the event that two or more people suggest the same film, the first suggestion we receive will win the tickets -- so e-mailing your suggestion is better than replying on Tribe.)

For more information about CounterCorp or the 2007 Anti-Corporate Film Festival, visit our website at www.countercorp.org.

Hello

I’m new at this and need some advice. I’m planing on making a few shorts and I’m looking into video cameras and all I can say is oh my god … there are so many choices

So I figured the best thing to do is ask a tribe… so any recommendation? My prices range in $1000 to $2000 … a lot of indoor shots, some out door

Thanks for any advice

hi my name is Ash Wednesday!!!

hi my name is Ash Wednesday!!! Hi I'm a filmmaker, artist, rockstar, writer... cartoonist... and much more. any way, I'm new to tribe... so here goes. I make movies... as do many of you... let's do something awsome. like what ash? well. and this maybe some prentious art film idea... but wouldn't it be interesting to make a film with like 50 filmmakers... in different towns... not really knowing each other... or mildly as the case may be with some.... and make a full length movie that somehow connects.

explain more?

ok.

perhaps use the same actors... maybe not.
perhaps having a subject matter that effects more than one person.
and make it inexpensive. like lets make it on DV or hi-8 even.
huh? you may say... I can see it. can you see it?

ok. that's my first attempt at you people.

let see if a ball rolls.

I wrote a screenplay about the theft of Geronimo's remains, by one Prescott Bush. Sire of George, grandaddy of even more trouble. I've got it posted at "American Zoetrope", Coppola's site. The title is, "Geronimo's Bones".

Anyone here have an interest in such things? Native American subjects? The theft itself?

I'd love to discuss this subject, and political activism stories in general.
LOGLINE

Abused Hollywood Actresses denounce their violent lovers; consequently, the unionized ACTRESSES lure to TINSELTOWN, a throng of BLUE-COLLAR MEN.

SYNOPSIS

A furious Lesbian actress, GRACE GRAHAM, unionizes a bevy of terrified ACTRESSES, after most of them had been viciously assaulted, by some of Hollywood preeminent ACTORS. As president of a newly formed ACTRESS UNION, GRACE urges all ACTRESSES to abstain from social communication with Hollywood’s gorgeous predators.

Before long, a new social technique is implemented, whereas ACTRESSES lure “BLUE-COLLAR MEN” to TINSELTOWN for the purpose of evaluating their romantic prowess. To enact this innovative, social modus operandi, GRACE sets out to erect a MATRIARCHAL COMMUNE (EDITH CRANE VILLAGE) on an abandoned army base in the San Fernando Valley, exclusively for actresses. However, Hollywood ACTORS won’t be allowed on the premises.

But GRACE’S strategy is soon shattered when the newly erected COMMUNE is mysteriously bombed. Before long, a determined GRACE rebuilds the COMMUNE. But lo and behold, GRACE’S woes begin anew. As GRACE dines in a steakhouse near a window with her two female lovers, AMY and MOLLY, several gunshots are fired into the steakhouse; within seconds, AMY and MOLLY falls to the floor, mortally wounded by an anonymous perpetrator or perpetrators. Will the tragic arson and murder cases be solved by the hard-nose Chief of Police, MIKE SIMMONS and will the MATRIARCHAL COMMUNE become operational?

Seekinfg filmmaker or producer with a sound budget to produce film.

Positions for Production Assistants Now Available For Exciting & New Documentary Film!

www.authentic-unifying.com/film.html

PROJECT
We are presently in production of a wonderful documentary film entitled, In the Heart of the Deathless, which explores the vitality for life which is to be found through a direct confrontation with death. Production has grown to such a degree that we now seek additional assistance to satisfy the basic needs of production.

POSITION
We seek individuals with prior experience for two positions:
1) On-Set Assistant: Help set-up and strike the lights and sound for a basic “interview-style” film-set. Several interviews may be scheduled during the week (Thurs – Sat) throughout the SF Bay Area and elsewhere. Each interview lasts no more than two hours, necessitating a maximum 3-hour time commitment from PAs. All filming is scheduled a minimum of ten-days in advance and you will be notified upon scheduling.
2) Off-Set Assistant: Help in office by responding to e-mail & voicemail, scheduling interviews, running errands, and sending postal mail. Position may also include the possibility for grant-writing, web-design, and public relations / marketing.

COMPENSATION
Both Production Assistant positions will receive credit in the film.
1) On-Set Assistant will gain invaluable filmmaking experience and a unique opportunity to meet some of the world’s most prominent scholars and spiritual leaders of our time. We also agree to provide one “craft service” meal per shoot.
2) Off-Set Assistant will receive a percentage of whatever moneys are generated by their direct assistance with the film (in terms of grant-writing, marketing, and general public-relations).

REQUISITE SKILLS:
1) On Set Assistant:
Filmmaking Experience / Technical skills
Organized & Personable / Able to work well with others
Punctual & Efficient / Capable of receiving and accomplishing necessary tasks promptly
Grant Writing / Sufficient writing skills for drawing up proposals from grants from template
Transportation / Valid and current driver’s license and vehicle

2) Off-Set Assistant:
Secretarial Skills / Appropriate phone presence and message-keeping
Organized & Personable / Able to work well with others
Punctual & Efficient / Capable of receiving and accomplishing necessary tasks promptly
Grant Writing / Sufficient writing skills for drawing up proposals from grants from template
Transportation / Valid and current driver’s license and vehicle

All interested applicants should please send resumes (replete with contact information, all prior education and filmmaking / secretarial job experience, and no fewer than two professional references) to:
Dan@authentic-unifying.com.

Upon receipt of your resume, we will be in contact with you to schedule an in-person interview.

Individuals with access to additional resources of film production (e.g., professionals, equipment, & financing) are encouraged to apply.

We sincerely feel that this film is desperately needed to be made, not only by those who have been diagnosed with terminal illness and their caretakers, but by the culture at large who have become so blinded by the lights of youth and beauty that they have lost sight of what is most valuable.

Please help us with your time and support by contacting us directly or sending this position request to any others who you feel may be interested in working with us on this film. Together, we can begin to make the difference that makes a difference.

With kind regards,
Dan

RHAPSODY: Trailer

RHAPSODY!
This film has surpassed my expectations. An example of perseverance in the face of adversity, not the film but the journey it took to make this short. Where others were willing to walk away, I wasn't. I saw the potential and needed to bring it to fruition. With the undeniable expertise of Alex Studer and the added sound by Regan and of course the very talented, Marie Roux... Rhapsody will not only be completed, but the film is festival worthy. See the trailer, click on the link below.
LOGLINE: The racial climate in America looms tolerable, that is, until a wealthy white man fatally shoots a black man, who secretly shares an apartment with the wealthy man’s collegiate daughter. Subsequently, the depraved gunman learns that the victim is the same black man he previously assaulted for chatting with a white female.

SYNOPSIS: Satan’s chief deputy, CYRUS LEGREE and his wife SARAH, pays a surprise visit to their collegiate daughter SUSAN on a Connecticut college campus. However, the LEGREES joyous expectation is quickly shattered; they learn SUSAN has moved off campus into an apartment. The LEGREES now loom in a state of acute confusion. They embrace and share each other pain. The jittery LEGREES now armed with SUSAN’S address dash swiftly over to her apartment.

After landing on the porch of SUSAN’S resident and ringing the doorbell, the LEGREES become further agitated as a tall black man, Bob Jordan finally opens the door. It seems as if time lingers in suspended animation as the diverse strangers examine each other with profound skepticism. After announcing that he’s seeking his daughter, SUSAN, a nervous BOB escorts the LEGREES down a darkened hallway and into a dimly lit bedroom, where the disgusted parents encounter their nude daughter, lying in bed.

As a stunned SUSAN attempts to explain that BOB is her lover and they are contemplating marriage, the tragic news is too traumatic for the LEGREES to digest. LEGREE, an avowed racist, hastily yanks out a revolver and fires several shots into BOB’S body, killing him instantly, as SUSAN and her mother unleash piercing screams.

Soon after Satan’s deputy, LEGREE, is arrested, a horrendous race war ensues, which is so uncontrollable that several peace commissioners are sent from heaven to combat Satan himself. Among the commissioners dispatched to Earth are JOHN F. KENNEDY, MARTIN LUTHER KING JR., ELEANOR ROOSEVELT and HARRIET BEECHER STOWE.

This is a challenging script written to be produced on a low budget.

SCREENPLAY: SILENT MAIDS' REBELLION

          SCREENPLAY: SILENT MAIDS’ REBELLION

(DRAMA)

LOGLINE: After a young black maid is gruesomely raped and murdered by a white man in his posh Manhattan apartment, America braces for a domestic upheaval, as a nation of rebellious black maids, plot to yank all black maids from the posh homes of white, wealthy housewives.

SYNOPSIS: For centuries black women have labored silently in the swanky homes of whites, many times under denigrating circumstances.

Domestic maid RUTH SIMMON quietly scrubs her employer’s kitchen floor on her knees. But RUTH’S tranquil morning is shattered when she’s suddenly pounced upon, raped and murdered by JOHN KERR, the lustful husband of RUTH’S employer, ANN KERR. Later ANN defends her husband JOHN as ace detectives clear JOHN of committing any crimes. To compound the anger brewing among black maids, a clan of apathetic prosecutors also refuses to indict or prosecute JOHN for allegedly victimizing a mere black maid.

Now reeling with explosive anger RUTH’S maid friends ROSA JEZEBEL and BUFFY now retired, set out to avenge RUTH’S deplorable death. With ROSA presiding as president, the tenacious retirees rapidly organize POMMA, an anti-maid organization designed to extract all black maids from the luxurious homes of white, wealthy housewives, nationwide. A nation of eager black maids has now joined POMMA. Thus, as a plethora of undomesticated white housewives, resist losing their indispensable black maids, a volatile domestic war erupts between aggravated white women and their fiery, denigrated black maids.

Alas, without warning and while demonstrating in Alabama, POMMA’S President, Rosa, is slain by members of the KU KLUX KLAN. As POMMA reels and staggers to its feet from its first major setback, can its new leaders, JEZEBEL AND BUFFY, succeed in yanking black maids from the posh homes of white, wealthy housewives?

This is a challenging and incendiary script, written to be produced on a low budget.

Okay, as of now I have no money, but I do have an investor, but they won't invest until they know how much it will cost to make the film. I don't know how to break it down. It's a short.
If you are a line producer and are feeling generous, lonely, bored or just want to extend some good karma and break down a script for me, I will buy you a Pizza.

GALAXIE PICTURES is currently developing 'Unfiltered', the directorial debut for Creighton Vero, screenwriter of the indie cult hit 'Spun'.

For more information contact: pete@galaxie-pictures.com

SYNOPSIS:

Teenage Sherri, a new arrival to Lake Charles, Louisiana, gets a rude awakening as the locals give her a slice of real Southern hospitality, small town style. Included in her Lake Charles initiation are some hard lessons on friendship, family, and bigotry—not the kind made of ephemeral remarks and incidental ostracizing of outsiders, but real and vicious institutional racism, the kind that ends in murder.

Sherri arrives as the locals prepare for the funeral of Mary, the town’s Contraband Days Celebration Queen. With her death begins the shattering of the perfect picture of southern hospitality that she represents. Grieving is glossed over in favor of panic about the town’s quickly evaporating marijuana supply. What’s really died is the smiling welcoming south, and its warmth and hospitality are quickly replaced by a rapid growth of weeds.

Then the ensemble cast of Unfiltered gradually unwinds into a hard picture of gritty southern life as facades of tolerance gradually peel / crumble away. What’s revealed is the stuff that’s usually swept under the carpet.

anyone need a music score for their small film?

I play guitar and keyboards, I have a modest music studio and looking to make sound scores for small films. I have been an animator and filmmaker myself since my early twenties (mostly student productions), so I'm not a novice, but not an "experienced professional" either.

I'd like to help out on low budget production by creating the sound score. I can compose comfortably in the styles of: classical, electronica, alternative rock, jazz, bossa nova, flamenco, mexican "oom pa", spy thriller, tv themes (IE. Green Acres specialist), german nihilism, Amazon fire dance, Leprechaun break dance .. I guess I better quit while I'm ahead.
